Guohua Jean Zhang

Guohua Jean Zhang is managing director, China of Taubman Asia, the Asian arm of Taubman Centers, and is responsible for overseeing Taubman’s business development, operations and strategic partnerships in China. He joined Taubman Asia in May 2011 as vice president for China.
Prior to this, Mr. Zhang worked for Ivanhoe Cambridge, one of Canada’s most prominent commercial real estate companies, as vice president of the China region from 2005 to 2011. There he gained rich experience in real estate investment, development, operations, as well as joint venture formation and management, and helped to formulate and execute business strategies in the Chinese market. He was also board member of a number of joint venture companies.
Mr. Zhang spent six years with Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec (CDPQ),the parent company of Ivanhoe Cambridge and one of Canada’s largest pension and insurance fund investment and management companies. He was responsible for Asian macro-economic and investment environment analysis, Chinese securities and real estate investment strategies, and partnership development.
Mr. Zhang was born in Shandong province, China. Before he returned to the Asian region to develop his career in 2005, he studied, worked and lived in North America for many years.
Mr. Zhang is proficient in Mandarin, English, and French. He holds a doctorate from the East Asian Studies Center at the University of Montreal, Canada; a master’s degree in business from HEC Montreal, Canada; and a master’s degree from Hunan University in China; and studied for a doctorate degree at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in China.
